Our commitment to our communities is rooted in what Tom Kearney called the “essential rightness” of the advice we give. Tom strongly believed, and instilled in the firm he built, that it is our duty to improve the world in which we live as we grow our business. How we do this changes over time, and today we have an unprecedented opportunity—and responsibility—to connect the corporate good with the common good.

In 2007, we made an industry-leading pledge to become carbon neutral by 2010, reducing our emissions and investing in climate-protecting projects meeting the highest international quality standards. On July 19, 2010, we proudly announced that we reached this goal. Consistent with this pledge, we launched initiatives to limit internal travel; shift necessary travel from air to rail as feasible; select services from carbon-efficient airlines, hotels, and rental car companies; and increase the use of public transit. We also pioneered new ways to measure and track the environmental impact of our business travel. We’ve sought out innovative, collaborative technologies to interact with clients in more sustainable ways and created more energy efficient and environmentally friendly offices.

A.T. Kearney has also been recognized for excellence in community service and corporate social responsibility by Communitas Awards. The firm won awards in both 2010 and 2011 for our employee volunteerism program and socially responsible business practices. Communitas Awards is an outgrowth of the pro-bono recognition program of the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. Through a combination of pro-bono engagements, community outreach and volunteerism, and donations to groups in need across our global footprint, we lead by example in addressing community issues. Put simply, we know that by doing good, we will do well.
